OUR BLOG - during web site creation

02/21/12 - 04:06am PST. tthhpppllltttt!!! - version 1.38E. basically we have not touched the computers for a day, ok two. Now I am making "chits", double sided artwork to replace the traditional business card, which we ran out of. No excuse I know but we got slammed at the last show. Now, the only reason I am still up is of course there was an email awaiting us with an offer to share a colleague's booth at the Cd' A Resort, TOMORROW!!! So here I am, again, "King of the last minute". We also have shows on the 25th and 29th this month, little ones but hey, gotta work hard when you're a small biz, the odds are against us, but we promise to keep our quality and service exceptional! So as it is Mum and Dad's 50th wedding anniversary some big things are going on. They popped in from out of town for a visit this weekend. It snowed and I popped popcorn from scratch; while Leilani, Mum and Dad watched a film, I was downstairs making dozens of Lip Gloss and Lip Balm, we all had a wonderful visit. 02/15/12 - Testimonials!!! - version 1.38C. Today I came across a file with family testimonials, so here it is from our Mums. (Though it is our from our Mothers, there is only a tiny bit of favoritism, because they would NOT LIE TO YOU), they KNOW LN products WORK! So here you go... Kingsley's Mum: My thoughts after testing MANY products through my years....... I have great contentment using the products of Leilani Naturals. Sun damaged, scaly seventy year old face skin became softer and smoother with nightly applications of 'Olive Night Cream'. To start the day, only a micro amount of 'Rose Essence Facial Cleanser' is necessary to wash face, a very pleasing soft feeling! The Rose essential oils smell Wonderful!!! The following light, smooth 'Rosehip and Hibiscus Facial Lotion' aids makeup application and combines well with my foundation. The face cleans to a natural state at the end of the day with the face wash. a refreshing product. Pleasant, effective hand creams are difficult to find, this is the ultimate! 02/14/12 - Back at it 11:00am PST, version 1.38B. Ok a little slow but here we go. I have been perplexed in how the design we have created was going to work as a web site, without having to re-learn Adobe® Flash®, (sorry Adobe® I just don't have the time). And not being a programmer, I know a little html coding and I rock and roll on a WYSIWYG. So, while making some caffeine today I may have thought of a way to do it. Of course, I now have to sit and read the monitor to learn how to do it. So that kills my next 12 hours straight, with dog playing breaks of course. Please buy LN!!! I NEED a new chair, one of those fancy ones!! Kingsley

02/14/12 - 03:12am PST revised...HAPY VALENTINES DAY!!! - version 1.38A. a little tease with new photos though call us if you really need something. I predict the web site completed 02/22/12 2:22:22 pm pst, (but don't have a hissy if I miss my mark). Mum and Dad are visiting from Cali this weekend and we have 2 shows at the end of the month. So we have been getting calls for product, thank you folks, I wish we were finished, but, Leilani also teaches martial arts at the college, she was exhausted so it gave me a chance to sneak into the lab and make her a few never before seen products! Then, designed nice Valentines Day labels to go on them. Sometimes working is really fun, well no matter how much I gripe, I do love every minute of it! Check my bio for more, oh sorry, it's not finished yet but then again, it is 03:22 in the morning, good night...  Kingsley

02/13/12 - I know, had a bit of a learning curve, version 1.35. Since Leilani wants a web site that I was going to "eventually" build, I have to learn a lot of things just to make the site actually 'work'. Been sitting here reading for toooo long! I need a 'cuppa. Kingsley

02/09/12 - 11:15pm PST... version 1.32IV. So, I just got off the phone with my Mom who was thanking me profusely for the two …well, one-lip gloss she happened to receive in the mail (from her lovely, natural-lip-stuff-giving daughter ;). She got two, but she just happens to be a very sharing, caring lady. Mom began telling me this story where she was struggling with the shrink-wrap of her new gloss when a friend from work happened by and offered some assistance. The friend ripped off the wrapper and since she was then holding this prized possession, Mom asked her if she’d like to try it? The friend indulged, and was so enamored with this wonderful lip gloss that my Mother in her infinite generosity said, “Well, I got two, so you can have that one if you want”. As you can imagine, much excitement ensued, and now (I’m guessing) their lips feel very happy, healthy and ready for kisses, smiles and making that fishy-mouth face… which I often do when I have happy lips. Don’t knock it ‘til you try it man. I will sign off with well wishes to all the wintry dry lips that are waiting for Leilani’s Lip Balm and Gloss – it’s coming SOON!, you are definitely worth it!  Leilani

02/09/12 - I am up to web site version 1.32 now. Tonight we had to process about 25 lbs of chicken backs that we feed our dog. He enjoys an all natural diet like we do! Don’t worry – your Leilani’s is created inside our sterile clean room, not the kitchen. So picture this; I have rubber gloves on, a 25lb box full of chicken backs and necks in the sink, a huge bowl full of chicken in the other side and Leilani next to me being the bag-holder-opener. For some reason the top of my foot was itching like mad! Probably nothing to do with the fact that I often get the mail, (barefooted in the snow!) So I asked my lovely Leilani to get some of her fantastic body butter to rub on my foot. She had a peek at the foot, got a funny look on her face, and ran into the other room. I didn’t even see what she had – but 2 sprays later my foot had completely stopped itching and then I saw the skin care weapon she wielded: her Rosewater Toner! I forgot all about it – finished the chicken, finished making and eating dinner and haven’t thought about it again until now. Hasn’t itched once in 6 hours! Kingsley :)

02/09/12 - Soooooooooooo close... version 1.28. Me and Leilani almost fell asleep at the computer last night, side by side, edit, edit, editing until we could NO longer see through our eyelashes. I am developing carpel tunnel syndrome. PLEASE BUY LN so I can go into the lab instead of spending 20 hours a day lashed to this stupid machine that is SUCKING THE LIFE OUT OF ME, oh well, you are worth it! Kingsley

02/07/12 - Still at it, still... version 1.25 now. Leilani and I have started this over 3 times now, BUT... we are finishing the FINAL DRAFT within minutes. Then I can build the whole site in no time, ah but 1st, new photos! Then program credit cards and WE ARE OPEN!! s o o n ! Kingsley

02/05/12 - Still at it... version 1.18 now. The sun came out so we all went hiking for an hour or so love having a mountain a mile down the street. It was so beautiful TO GET AWAY FROM THESE MACHINES! "serenity now"... the web site is looking great. Next we take photos of all the product for you to see. Don't you hate it when you click a "enlarge image link" to either see the same size image or maybe even smaller. You won't get that here, we have nothing to hide. Kingsley

02/01/12 - Good Morning Gang! HAPPY FEBRUARY! oh, hang on, our Aussie Shepherd is reminding me that I have not fed him, be right back... ok. GUESS WHAT? Leilani has made me start the web site from scratch!!! :( Just kidding... it was MY fault. I came in here to do some more work on the web site when a creative wave hit me. Four hours later... "Honey", I yelled, "come have a look at this and tell me what you think". You got it... REDO. But don't worry I am here and working but this time I am not going to estimate when it will be completed. It WILL get done!!! We will also be working on our store at ETSY.COM so you can shop while I get our site completed. Anyone tried to build your own site before? whew! Kingsley

01/31/12 - Ok, special NEWS... Etsy.com has our 'naked Beeswax Lip Balm AVAILABLE NOW. We will have all our items available there, as well as on our web site and even locally in stores soon! Kingsley

01/30/12 - Another delay: taxes, business insurance, etc! I know, but the 'man' wants everything just so. I have been reading until my eyes bleed, then it is back to the... web site!!! But 1st, cut new labels I printed, place on products, photograph, PhotoShop®, then back to the web site. Kingsley

01/27/12 - Well we have changed our minds again! We built the quick web site and it is bad. I mean it all works but, we are serving fine dining and the web site was a paper bag. So, we got inspired and changed our web style, a little more color and fun. Our products are fantastic, we know for sure you won't mind waiting another week while I get into graphics design. 01/26/12 - HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY!! Compare the holiday to your 4th of July! But we are still here working anyway. We are having tonnes of fun today with images, so much so that it is still a little wait until we can "open for biz". I promise, only 16hr days in 'this' office! Kingsley

01/25/12 - And so the sun shineth again! We knew it would – it was a little bleak there for a second, but mother nature is showing us some LOVE today! We’re getting all of our non-snow day errands done today like… finishing the web site! Poor Kingsley has logged millions of mouse-clicks and his eyes are fighting the monitor’s glare, but he’s hanging in! Leilani

01/25/12 - All the web pages are made, now to tidy the web site up and some graphics and get the payment information coded. Please come back soon as we are getting REALLY close now. As I am sure you can understand that a husband and wife team have so many tasks each. No worries, Kingsley

01/23/12 - Going strong, thank you for visiting and being patient. We checked our web stats yesterday to see such an increase in web traffic shows us you're extremely ready to buy, so I will brew another pot of coffee and spend the next 20 hours glued to this chair! minus feeding and playing with the dog. 01/20/12 - Ok, the web site will be a few more days but... after shoveling snow for hours I came inside, took all the wet gear off, happened to look out the window to see the 'evil snowplow man' fill our driveway back in. Now after re-shoveling the drive, I am back at it. Come back and checkout what happens next. Kingsley
